Problem
Currently, there is no fitness mirror on the market designed exclusively for a yoga practice at home or in the workplace. All of the choices are multi-functional devices offering yoga courses as one of the options. These technologies cover a wide range of physical health activities. So it is a benefit in one regard, but it may also be a disadvantage because most of them have a cluttered interface with several pages, features, and settings that may frustrate the user.
Audience
The target market might range from CEOs working at the office to full-time mothers at home who want to practice Yoga.
Solution
By designing a Yoga Mirror, I made it possible for the user to begin yoga practice right away without having to answer several questions or scroll through multiple pages. This is a huge benefit for those with busy schedules.
Interviews
I conducted 5 interviews and asked them 5 questions which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the participant's behaviors and needs.
1. Have you ever used a smart mirror to do a workout? If yes, which product was that?
2. How often do you work out?
3. What time do you usually work out during the day?
4. What is your favorite feature related to smart mirrors?
5. What kind of feature do you wish to add to this kind of smart mirror?
Finding From Interviews:
-
Users want to have access to do workouts any time during the day and night.
-
Users want to have equipment with a simple and straightforward interface.
-
Users mostly used Mirror and Tonal.
Samaneh Salehi, CA
“As a yoga enthusiast, I want to exercise without limiting myself and practice any time during the day."
Morgan James, NY
"Most of the applications are crowded with a lot of unnecessary feature"
Lisa Driver, MI
“I need something just for yoga practice not any other activities.”
Competitive Analysis
I completed a competitive analysis, which gave me insights into industry standards, key features and holes in the market.

Findings From Competitive Analysis:
-
Have a minimal design to have a smooth flow.
-
Design fewer steps to start the workout.

Usability Testing
-
I tested the user task flow for clarity and simplicity.
-
I tested the number of clicks from start to finish from the primary flow.
-
I tested The Yoga mirror with 5 participants.
Positive Result:
-
90% of participants completed the task intuitively.
-
Navigation is super clean and simple.
-
Able to get things done with a few clicks.
Improvement Feedback:
-
The back button may need to clear, so I decided to label it.
-
On the last page, it wasn’t clear what is the next step, so I decided to design another page to give them feedback that they finished the task.
After user testing, I came up with this solution to add another page as giving feedback to users that they finish the task.
